These sturdy horses has no covers on. But they don´t need it. They have warm coats of there own. Especially the last one. It looks almost curly. The door to the barn stays open so they can go inside for cover if needed.  One of them are eating from the fir, something I have not seen before.

I thought we need some sweet memories of summer after this harsh week with lots of cold, snow and bad surprises. I wanted much better for the world.

Forest day

Forest day

© NF Photo 160921

They celebrated the day of the forest this Wednesday. They have been logging my nearby little forest the last week in a rather old fashioned way. They used horses and no electric machinery. Now they took the opportunity to teach children and grownups how the forest can be logged in a "natural" way, Not entirely spoiling the area.

It is good not to use heavy tractors, but they still spoil a natural little city forest.  There used to be a lot of birds and Roe deer here as well as hare. The man in the last image told me they will change the area to be a "park like" area. Still saving some old trees. Well, we will see when they are done. And what happen to wildlife as it was.

I think every school in town was here in the morning.

From a distance this horse looked peculiar. But then I realized it had a protective net covering most part of  it´s head to keep the flies away.

Three different kinds of horses walking together in a pasture. And seem to like it. And they were super wised by a Jackdaw.

Welcome to the first edition of the NF Tree n Bushes meme.

I have always liked trees and have lots of them in my files that I never got around to post. I assume that many of you have it too. So, for this meme is not about running around taking shots today. You can as well dig in your files for those gems never posted. Trees and bushes comes in many shapes and forms ant they look different as the year go by. Many of them has flowers and are showing autumn colors. They change always.

The horse was out grazing in open area but when the heavy rain came it quickly moved to cover under the trees. At least a bit less wet.

These two are companions despite the difference in size. The little one is only half the size of the Arab, white horse. I felt sorry for the Arab as it seemed very troubled. I could not get good shots of it because of all the flies and it had some thistle in the mane too. And I think it got bitten by nasty horse flies in several places. It was very awkvard.

I had a request of reopening NF Winged. A meme for everything winged like flies, butterflies, bugs, birds and such. Winged critters really. If you are interested in that please make a comment at:
