Most time when you see this happen there are several birds chasing the raptor away.  Mostly gulls or crow family. But this gull was alone and still chased the eagle away.

Kvismaren Nature Reserve

I went to Kvismaren yesterday. It was a nice but slightly cold and windy day. This place is located about 60 km inland from my hometown in Sweden. The cranes and swans was almost all gone up north. But I did see some  interesting waders and ducks. Also on their way up north.We had a very cold Easter weekend so I guess that is why they left early.

The lonely anthill

This was a forest until 2 month ago. Now the anthill is what remains of it. Can´t help but wonder what the ants will think when they wake up next spring. Will they survive? They are a forest species.

Hampetorp ferry to Vinön

Hampetorp ferry to Vinön.
This is one of Swedens largest lakes and is located app 30 km north of where I live. The Ferry goes to the largest island in the lake but not the ones seen in these images. It takes about 25 min to get to Vinön (name means Wine island) I have never done the trip but maybe next summer I will. As you can see it is well guarded by Hooded crows :)

These animals are becoming popular in Sweden. I guess both for their wool and cuteness. These are about 45 min drive from where I live. The animals in these images are female and young.

This is a fence at Katinrholms gård. A farm with the name of the town I live in. On the other side is a field with crops.
The red current grows at the same fence but a bit further down.

Welcome to NF Tree n Bushes meme.

 I have always liked trees and have lots of them in my files that I never got around to post. I assume that many of you have it too. So, for this meme is not about running around taking shots today. You can as well dig in your files for those gems never posted. Trees and bushes comes in many shapes and forms and they look different as the year go by. Many of them has flowers and are showing autumn colors. They change always.

Winter home

I walk this way now and then and like the white homes. This day I noted the light in the sky and the air. Together with the shapes of the birches and the snow falling, it seemed like magic. And for once, the camera captured it perfectly. This is a totally SOOC image.

I hope everyone had a pleasant holiday season. I also hope you did not eat and drink too much so you now have to go an a diet :)

A rainy day swifts and ducks

Leaving the tower I have to pass this short boardwalk

To get to the car I have to pass this gate and walk for about 5 min through the forest to the parking.

As you can see from the images the rain varied a lot but never stopped. I was surprised to see all ducks already going south. And the swifts so low due to the rain and they too early to gather like this.
It was too dark to get good shots so I leave it for now.

This is a place outside my town where there are some remains of an old mill. The word "kvarn" means mill. The last one was not powered by the water but by an engine that is still here. This is a watersysten that goes half of Sweden. There is lakes,and streams all the way down to the coast of the Baltic sea. And this place is about 80 km from the coast. The water level difference on both sides of this bridge is about 2m
