Whooper swan and canada goose

Whooper swan

I found them! In the lake closest to my home they are in the middle of the lake where there are an opening. Totally out of range for my equipment. But in this wetland, and with sunshine for once, it was good enough to capture them. And the canada goose still here too. 

It has been raining a lot and the water is back. Last time I was here, this place was all dry.

It´s obvious, spring is here but ice still on the shallow water behind the main building. And new arrivals are sliding on it.  But for tomorrow the weather forecast says: SNOW, a lot! Confusing, isn´t it?

Fallow deer and whooper swans

Fallow deer female and young with whooper svans in the background. 

If you look closely the deer are getting their thicker winter coat. If I did not know better I would think they needed a haircut. :)

This is one of our ponds where there usually are rather many birds. It is devided in two by the road. 
The water is very low. More then 50 cm lower then normal. The swan whould not be able to stand at that location. And the green grass area should be under water enough to allow ducks and grebes to dive.
