Those guys are waking up and tries to get warm in the sun. I know some people are scared of them but these are of no danger to us. No poison here. And, does it not look cozy with all those bodies in tangled? You can also see they are of different age. The larger the head is, the older the snake is. But compared with the leafs you can tell they are quite small. These snakes winter in a slope at a small stream. When they are warmed up they will go fishing.

I like them, this snake we call Snok, is special to me.

If I have a totem animal this snake would be it. I have on several occasion's had pleasant encounters with the species. They are not poisonous. Only dangerous for fish and small animals. I have seen it catching fish twice. And when I had the kayak I sometimes had them swimming beside it.
They seem curious and intelligent. Once I was tanning on a rock when I felt somebody looking at me. Raising my head I found one of them right in front of me. Looking at me as to checking out what I was. We stared at each other for a while, then it left.

This time of year they come out and lay in the sun to warm themselves up. There are lots of them then.
I hope nobody was uncomfortable from this post.

I saw this snake, we call it Snok, 2 weeks ago. There were several of them coming out of hiding. They stay in the ground during the winter, sleeping. Then when the sun warmes the soil they wake up and comes out . These were not fully grown, I think, as they were quite small. The head not bigger then my finger. This snake has no poison and is quite nice.
