Midsummer Eve Celebration

I take a break from the Iceland trip report. This week I will tell you about Swedish Midsummer Eve Celebration. In the old days it was the summer equinox but nowadays we celebrate the closest Friday.

This time it was rather cold so when I arrived at the location the lake was empty from swimmers. Don´t think I have ever seen it so empty before. Only one person was swimming. Not even the children.

 First thing to do is to dress up the pole with leaves and flowers.

 Then the pole has to be put in upright position.

 Then the dance begins. And those who don´t like to dance can walk the dog. And wear a flower behind his ear.

Most years I find a person I get drawn to. This year it was this beautiful young woman. I don´t know who she is but I liked her face and her hair with the pink decoration.

This was quite fun. I was driving on the road passing this field of crops. And I noted the peculiar stuff in the middle of the field. My first thought was why there were bushes. So I stopped my car and pulled out the camera. Turned out is was the herd of deers. They noted my car of course and started to jump up and down in order to see what was on the road. To bad I had no video as it was fun to watch. Well, after a while they took off into the forest at the back.

This is a very nice part of Kvismare Nature Reserve. It is a lot of oak and medows and small wetlands tended to by these critters. :) If lucky there might also be a few bird to watch. About the 4-legged gals? You don´t really want them to get too close. They love to lick on your backpack and camera. If they manage to do it.

International Food Market

For Shadow Shot Sunday

This weekend thee was an "International Food Market" down town. The market consists of sellers from different countries who advertise their own local food. And they are touring throughout Sweden. You can try and buy most of the products. I found the cotton candy was nice. Probably tasty too for all the children who walked  around and ate it.
The people in my town are quite international too. As the images show some thought it was a hot day while others thought it was chilly.
