Charcoal kiln at Magnetehultån

It is really a charcoal kiln in progress. They are building it for a the memories and celebration of the old days workers. They will fire it up in the end of May.

There is trees all around and the kiln is also created from wood. And, there is a little fir growing at the end of the fence. My guess is that, if they allow it to grow, it will one day turn the fence over.

Kagoshima, Kyushu, Japan

From my trip to Japan 2 months ago.

These images was taken through the window of the bus while going from breakfast to the Arasaki Crane Center. This should have been a tropical view in the south part of Japan, but we ended up in a snowstorm.
They did not have any snow for more then a 100 years so it was chaos in the area. But Sweds are used to it.

This is the inner garden of the hotel that hosted our luggage while we were at the Monkey Park. The garden was open so they built the hotel around it. Did look nice in winter an probably gorgeous in spring.

Curtain Figtree

This is a famous tree in Queensland. So huge they made it a tourist attraction. The pathway goes all around it so you can see it from all directions. It is an amazing tree. The "curtain" is aerial roots.

 On the airport Miyazaki at the island of  Kyushu it was sunshine and springlike weather even if you could feel a touch of cold. A tropical island with palm trees and such.

When we arrived in Japan it was great weather but in the south, where we were heading the next day, a snowstorm hit the west side of  Kyushu. Our flight was cancelled but our guide manage to book another flight to an airport on the east side of the island. The bus we hired picked us up and then started the drive across the island. The further west we came the more snow and wind it was. Luckily the driver was used to work in the northern part of Japan. Thus knowing how to handle bad situations.

This happened in an island that hardly ever seen snow. They did not have equipment to handle it.
Late in the evening we arrived at the hotel. No time for cranes this day. But we had better luck the next day.
